Growing Vegetables in the UK

Growing your own veg in the UK is one of the most satisfying things you can do with a patch of ground, a few pots or an allotment bed. Our climate is kinder to vegetables than people think. Cool, damp summers suit a huge range of crops, and there's something ready to sow or harvest in almost every month of the year.

These guides walk you through each crop the way a friendly neighbour would: what to grow, when to sow, how much space it needs, and how to get it from the ground to your kitchen. Everything is written for British conditions, with metric measurements and realistic expectations. Start with one or two crops, get a feel for your soil and your seasons, and build from there.
