A darning mushroom, needles and thread on a worn jumper

Mending & Repair Skills

There's a quiet satisfaction in fixing a thing rather than binning it. A popped button, a sock with a hole in the heel, a jumper the moths got to over summer: none of it needs to be the end of the road. With a needle, a bit of thread and ten spare minutes, most of it comes good again, and you save a few quid while you're at it.

This is the make-do-and-mend corner of the homestead. Clothes repair, darning, patching and the small everyday skills that keep your kit going for years instead of months. Nothing here needs a fancy machine or years of practice. Start with one wobbly repair, keep the clothes you love, and let the rest follow.
