Allotments

An allotment is one of the best things you can do with a spare afternoon a week. A rented patch of ground, usually from your local council, where you grow your own fruit and veg for the price of a few takeaways a year. It is cheap, it is sociable, and it will teach you more about growing than any book ever could.

This is our home for everything allotment-related. Start with the guide below on getting a plot in the first place, then work through the rest as your growing year unfolds. Whether you are staring at a fresh waiting-list confirmation or up to your knees in bindweed on a plot you took on last spring, there's something here for you.
